“There are too many ideas and things and people. Too many directions to go. I was starting to believe the reason it matters to care passionately about something, is that it whittles the world down to a more manageable size.”
Charlie Kaufman, Adaptation.: The Shooting Script
I have never had the issue of not being able to come up with an idea. In fact, I have a whole book of ideas (no joke). In school, I've always been advised to watch out for this trait...that I have too many ideas...and that this can result in a lack of focus. And maybe there's a grain of truth to that...at least in the world of Academia. Too many ideas can be hard to deal with. However, I truly believe that Linus Pauling was right when he said, "The best way to have a good idea is to have lots of ideas." So yes, I may have a lot of ideas, but having them has at least allowed me to become passionate about the good ones and learn to throw out the bad ones.
